We are delighted to share significant news with our community: the Cultural-Natural Reserve “Orheiul Vechi” has established a meaningful collaboration with the National Park “Zalissia” in Ukraine. This alliance marks an important moment in our efforts to protect the environment and conserve biodiversity, opening new perspectives and possibilities for both parties involved.
After months of discussions and negotiations, on April 30, 2024, a crucial agreement was signed between the two entities. Thus, the foundation for close and efficient cooperation in nature conservation and sustainable resource management was laid. The implementation of this partnership began in May with a working visit by the delegation from the “Zalissia” National Park to the “Orheiul Vechi” Reserve.
The Ukrainian delegation, led by Director General Taras Kogut and accompanied by scientific collaborators Katerina Smargoli and Alexandra Vasilenko, aimed to identify common strategies for biodiversity protection, exchange experiences, transfer good management practices, and develop joint projects. This meeting paved the way for deep and synergistic collaboration between the two entities, with the common goal of conserving and enhancing natural and cultural heritage.
In the coming period, a group of researchers from the “Orheiul Vechi” Reserve will visit the “Zalissia” National Park to learn and share experiences, thus contributing to the enrichment of knowledge and the implementation of sustainable practices in natural resource management.
This cross-border collaboration not only promotes the exchange of knowledge and expertise between two regions but also strengthens our common efforts in protecting the environment and promoting sustainability. We are confident that this partnership will bring lasting benefits to both parties involved and to local communities, strengthening the ties between two geographical areas and contributing to the conservation of their beauty and natural diversity.
